Dinner Party

It's an odd thing. I'm 23 years of age; I have a good handful of friends that I spend my time with; we enjoy eating and yet, we've never had a dinner party before tonite. It came out amazingly good. A friend that was supposed to join us has a special diet- Vegan Pescatarian. Basically means, no animal products but he can eat fish. So everything was made to those culinary specifications. He ended up not showing because he was ill (I wonder why?) so we enjoyed the food without him. The hostess made Minnestroni soup turned Ragou to have over shell pasta; seared halibut in a sweet terriaki sauce; roasted fan potatoes; orange marmalade butter; and for dessert I made roasted apples stuffed with walnuts, raisins and pear drizzled with reduced orange marmalde and apple glaze. It was a very good night :)

MARVEL AND DC

Ok.... I must admit that I have a fancy for Marvel and DC in equal measure. My father has a nice little collection from the 60s through early 80s. I was going through them recently and something occured to me; it is something perhaps obvious to the rest of the world but struck me as interesting: Batman is crazy. Think about it if you haven't already.

The Hulk: Radiation

Spiderman: Bit by Radio-Active Spider

Superman: Alien

X-Men: Mutants

Batman: Crazy. Likes bats and hates bad guys. Thinks to himself one day "Hey! I look good in leather and a cape! I'm BATMAN!!"

And yet he is more widely acclaimed as the Best of them all. WHY? If I went around dressed in a lady bug costume fighting candy theives and hand-cuffing them with rainbows and hugs i would be shoved in the loony bin fast then you can say Holy Rusted Metal Batman! NOT FAIR!!!

One Man's Garbage...

My family and I have this habit of, on bulk garbage days, driving around trying to salvage what we can. Last night, my father and I were innocently driving down the street when we happened upon something utterly spectacular! We couldn't find a way to fit it into the car so we sat it on the roof and held onto it through the sun roof. Treasure or not, it is the coolest thing I have ever seen!

Somewhere over the Rainbow Cake

I saw a recipe for this online and I decided to try to make it. It went pretty smoothly and I learned new things. For example, SPRITE makes an awesome alternative to adding oil and egg whites to cake batter. Seriously, it's fluffier and smoother batter. Also, I love food colouring!!!! I also learned there is a right and wrong side to wax paper :(
